Add native pixel shift / offset placeholders for font images and custom GUIs

We recently migrated our server’s resource pack from Nexo to MythicCrucible. One feature we would really like to see is a simple way to shift font images and text horizontally by a specified number of pixels. Other resource-pack plugins already provide this:

  • Nexo: <shift:-8> and <shift:8>.
  • ItemsAdder: :offset_-8: and :offset_8:, with PlaceholderAPI equivalents such as %img_offset_-8%.

This is particularly useful for positioning custom GUI backgrounds, aligning icons with text, and placing several font images on the same line.

Current workaround

Mythic’s dialog documentation describes using a custom space font with positive and negative advances. That makes the result possible, but requires manually maintaining font JSON files, Unicode mappings, and font tags for what could otherwise be a simple numeric placeholder.

Suggested feature

Could MythicCrucible provide a built-in horizontal offset placeholder, alongside its existing font-image support? For example, the following proposed syntax could move a font image eight pixels to the left:

<shift:-8><fontimage.menu_background>

The exact syntax is flexible; <offset:-8> would work just as well. Ideally, it would:

  • Accept positive and negative integer pixel offsets.
  • Work before both font images and regular text.
  • Automatically generate the required spacing font in Crucible’s resource pack.
  • Restore the previous font after the offset, so subsequent text and images keep their intended appearance.
  • Offer a PlaceholderAPI equivalent for third-party menu plugins that support PAPI but do not process Mythic placeholders.

Why this would help

This would make custom GUI layouts much easier to configure and adjust, keep configuration files readable, and simplify migration from Nexo or ItemsAdder. The request is specifically for a convenient way to control horizontal spacing. Existing font-image options would continue to handle image size and vertical positioning. Thanks for considering it!
