This is a new feature request related to Orbital MOB bullets, not a duplicate of issue #10128.
The previous fix (#10128) addressed an issue where bulletType=MOB bullets unintentionally inherited the owner's rotation. However, there is another important aspect of this behavior that needs to be addressed.
Different orbital setups require different rotation behaviors.
In some cases, the orbital must NOT follow the caster's rotation. For example, I have a Soul Tornado setup where the orbital needs to maintain its own rotation. If it inherits the caster's rotation, it interferes with the ModelEngine animation and causes visual problems.
However, in other setups, the orbital MUST follow the caster's rotation. Disabling rotation inheritance entirely breaks these setups and causes existing custom models and animations to behave incorrectly.
This is particularly important because many developers have already built their resource packs and custom animations around the previous rotation behavior.
Requested feature
Please add a new optional setting to control whether an Orbital MOB bullet inherits the caster's rotation.
For example:
followOwnerRotation=true/false
true(default): The orbital follows the caster's rotation.false: The orbital does not inherit the caster's rotation and maintains its independent rotation.
Important: The default value should be true to preserve compatibility with existing setups that rely on the previous behavior.
This setting would allow developers to choose the appropriate rotation behavior individually for each orbital, without forcing one behavior on every setup.
Video demonstration
I have already demonstrated both scenarios in the MythicMobs Discord server. Unfortunately, I cannot attach the video directly to this issue, so here is the Discord message containing the video: https://discord.com/channels/213109157983813633/433846386166071306/1567493411634942037 In the video:
- The first example (Soul Tornado) should NOT follow the caster's rotation.
- The following examples SHOULD follow the caster's rotation.
The purpose of this request is to provide developers with control over this behavior rather than permanently enabling or disabling rotation inheritance for all Orbital MOB bullets.
